I have not forseen any disasters, and as I am a wiccan such things as are written in the Book of Revalations do not concern me. Many people fear a huge & sudden ending in which all will perish. This, I believe, is because we have a dilusional view of what will truly occur when the end of our reality comes into being. The planet does not live on forever-everything has its time in the maiden, mother, and crone aspects. The earth was born, lived out its youth, bore fruit, and will eventually die. The only difference is that we are a different kind of offspring. We can never become fully independent of the earth-we always require what She provides us. Without it we are destined to die. Why does this concern us so much if we must all, inevitably die anyway? Because we are selfish beings who want our seeds to inhabit this planet forever. This is not possible, nor has it ever been. Gradually we will use up our waning resources and be unable to provide for ourselves because we have exhausted what the earth can provide for us. Gradually, we will poison the once-fertile soil until it can no longer bear crops for us to eat, or grass for our animals to eat. Don’t fear a sudden, unforseen catastrophe, that is not how it will begin. It has already begun, and will end soon enough-perhaps not in our lifetimes, but not so far in the future that our children won’t see it in their final days.
