Although sodomy would now be considered under the category of Sadism- a term coined out of the i’m thinkin DeSade in this context has more to do with Historical placement. A certain famous short French guy came to power via a coup at around the time De Sade was impisioned, ‘within a bastille’ as they say. And many at the time considered Napolean to be the Antichrist.

But you’re right, these guys have done their homework. We’re not lookin at the writings of some random garage band here. It’s both intelligent and poetic. I’d say calling them ‘Goth’ really downplays their ability to handle prose to tell ya the truth.

I know that Dani Filth really know his histroy, like when he mentions De Sade I did some research and found out that he was a famous sodomist. So i guess i would credit Demoness on that, one reson is because some of the things they talk about are hard to find on the net and you have to be real broad.

Just letting you know that the lyrics above are from the song “Babalon A.D.(So Glad For The Madness)” by British goth-metal band, Cradle of Filth.
Oh, and it’s “A splintered knot in the grain” and “I furnaced dreams, a poet, foe of sleep.”
Just typos, of course, but just thought I’d point that out (as well as ID’ing the song).
