I see the apocalypse as the total failure of ALL electronics. We rely on electronics for everything these days, and without it, we are helpless. Guns become useless, due to a lack of bullets (once they are all used up). People revert to ‘white weapons’ such as swords, knives. Swords are more honorable anyway, since they require skill and agility. Hunters stalk game across abandoned six-lane highways, warriors fight to claim ruined sky-scrapers, and children grow up to rebuild a new society where people are their true selves. Of course no money is involved. Barter and trade is the only way to come by clothing and items. Technology has regressed to a neo ‘Dark Age.’ At least, that’s how I’d like it to be….

It would be nice indeed. Have you read Ariel by Stephen Boyett? I think as in the book that it is only obtainable by magic, which means it will never happen, unless some other apocalyptic event is the underlying cause.
