Since the beginning of time people of most societies have had a doomsday prophesy of some sort or another. Essentially, it seems that human beings need something to worry about. We aren’t happy if we can’t be caught in the middle of a fantastic drama in which we play the starring role. As a whole I believe that many of the disasters will be man made, due to panic and the stupidity rule (if someone is doing something stupid, that means you should do it to) which people often seem to follow. If a city can riot over a hockey game, the turn to the year 2000 is surely a worthy excuse. :-/

I would guess that we all have some form of anxiety, or that many of us do. It has been ingrained in us since we were children. I shudder to think of how many times the world has been supposed to end in the (just under) three decades that I have been alive. Since the year 2000 is special - a turn of the millenium and all - it would seem to give greater credence in the minds of the masses to the notion that the world is going to end.

I find the notion somewhat fascinating. I have read many a story about the world ending, and I’m working on writing one of my own (although it is somewhat more Science Fiction based). I’ve read a fair bit on the apocolypse and I have to say this page is one of the best I’ve seen. I’ve gotten a chuckle over the notion that some seem to think that only Russia and the USA will be affected by all this - does that mean that since I’m a Canadian nobody is going to bother with us? ;-)

I realise that in posting my email address I may invite heated response to this opinion. In that regard I will be happy to discuss all opinions and expressions from anyone who is RATIONAL. It’s a fascinating topic and worthy of discussion. Irrational, nasty letters will go straight into the trash can, so don’t waste your time
