It is the height of conceit and delusion

I am and have always been impressed with humankind’s vanity and self-absorbment. It is the height of conceit and delusion to believe that our generation is of any particular importance to merit such an “event” or attention, by God, Aliens, or the Planet we abuse. Like blaming our parents or society, by believing in the “Apocalypse Myth” we relieve the pressure on ourselves to be responsible for our futures. It is the tired metaphor that we heard from James Dean wannabes when we were young, who said they’d never see 30. Unfortunatley for most of them they were wrong and probably should have adopted a bit longer term view of their lives. Also by believing in the “Apocalypse Myth” we imbue our trivial existence with some attributed importance that we have to do nothing in order to lay a claim to. I would humbly suggest that you don’t waste too much energy worrying about it, you won’t get out of your mortgages and credit card debt that easily.

  1. Rick Says:

It’s arrogant for you to assume that a person will have longevity anyways. When they die, it may not be because of an apocalypse, but some other random incident.

  2. Aamir Says:

People need something to get frenzied about. I suppose, in a way, that identifies man’s attention seeking nature ? Dunno.
