One of a long series of apocolyptic dreams I have had since I was a little child, always involving violence and the struggle to survive armegeddon…

When this dream began, I was driving a bus or large truck down a neighborhood street, and suspected that I had run over several people. When I exited the vehicle, I was collected into an alien aircraft along with the others nearby. They processed me for transport (which may have involved medical procedures or surgery), then deposited me at my childhood home to collect any essential belongings. I took a 20-gague shotgun, ammunition, and my favorite clothing, and my parents did the same. We then proceeded to the airport to link up with the alien spacecraft that would take us from the planet before its destruction. Along with the group of about 30 people was one friendly alien that was guiding and protecting us as we made our way to our escape. Meanwhile, about half of the Earth was already destroyed by the _other_ aliens, who were destroying the planet with rays fired from their spacecraft in orbit. Other sinister aliens were at the airport waiting for us. We tried to keep a low profile at the airport, and the benevolent alien was concealed in terrestrial clothing to try to blend in a little, although a worker cleaning the bathroom noticed his tentacles sticking out where his feet should be and had quite a shock. As we boarded the elevator to get to the terminal (which for some reason was at the top of a building) where the spaceship was going to land, a sinister alien was already on the other elevator on the way down. We narrowly missed that encounter, but when our elevator doors opened on the rooftop, an alien shot two of our group, which by now was reduced to about 6 people left. Obviously our escape wasn’t going too well. The Earth was exploding underneath us, and I’m not actually sure we ever made it to that transport; I think my dream ended with us stuck on the rooftop trying not to get killed.

Anyway, this dream was too real and too typical of the vivid dreams I have every month for me to not submit it. I have dreams about the destruction of the world or of people trying to kill me on a regular basis, to the point where I consider them normal and don’t even consider them nightmares anymore. I’m also sick right now, and I might have a fever, which explains the freaky dreams last night. I have always enjoyed movies like Twelve Monkeys because it creates in me the same disassociative mood that I have when I wake up from these dreams. Sometimes they make for good songs.
