You know, I don’t believe that an “apocalypse” as we think of it will ever occur. Yes, our society will eventually crumble and fall, as did all civilizations before us, but I don’t think that God is out there to get us, or that our time has come, or any of that. I don’t belive that it will happen any time in the near future, either. The millenium means nothing. It’s just another year, will you get it through your heads? 2000 is the same as 1999. Our computers won’t all fail, a meteor won’t strike, volconoes won’t explode, whatever you belive. I don’t understand all the hype. Just another New Years, another durnken occasion with which we celebrate the passing of one year and ring in the new with friends and family. That’s all that will happen on December 31. The sky won’t burst into flames. You can misconstrue Bible verses all you want if it helps you prove a point, like the advocates of slavery in the 1800s but it won’t help, there simply will not be any apocalypse, ever. Not in my lifetime, and not in my children’s lifetimes. I think that gradually, as we can see already, society as we know it will fall apart. Thigns will begin to happen, and all we belive in will be undermined and laid to waste over hundreds of years. All great civilizations run their natural course: ours will too. Slowly but surely the human race will die out and something newer, something better will take its place. I don’t know who what or when, nor do I care. It won’t affect me, so why worry? It’s not worth troubling over.
